Effect on Ticket Window and Theatres from last two weeks

Posted by: niteshmalap on: June 9, 2008

On 31st May, 2008 In the Auditorium Vishudas Bhave, Vashi a bomb was founded. There was show of “Amhi Pachpute”, after that show was cancelled. Afetr this on 4th June, 2008 a bomb blast in Gadakari Rangayatan, Thane at 4.00 p.m. Before show of same drama “Amhi Pachpute” on 4.30 p.m. Show was cancelled and this time because of blast team of the drama was in trouble. In that blast 5 persons were injured in one of them there was a young guy who was come to see this play. After that some shows keep cancelled, for this play.

“Amhi Pachpute” is written By Satosh Pawar and even directed by him. In last 7-8 years Marthi Theatre’s plays are going in controversy from organizations which work for Hindu Religion. Santosh Pawar has its own different style in writing his plays, also in direction. He always famous for his original jokes created in vocabulary while performing the play. He gives a social message to the society from his audience. Because of this he creates a different profile in director’s name and in theatre industry. Because bomb blast they cancelled their two shows, due to this audience who wants to see other dramas they also in critical situation whether they have to go outside to see or not. Producers from other side like Pune, Nashik they also cancelled their shows because of bomb blast. This was impact on ticket window of Marathi plays, so other producers also bear the loss from this condition. Like the show must go one “Amhi Pachpute” has their shows ahead in this week and ahead of that also.

Dhakka to Marathi Box Office from movie “De Dhakka”

Posted by: niteshmalap on: June 18, 2008

“De Dhakka” a movie still rocking Marathi audience with his comedy and emaotional dhhakkas (shock or surprise). Movies released on 16th June, 2008, where other movies like Tingya, Ghartyasathi Saar kahi, Sakhee was also running to theatre. “De Dhakka” launch by Zee Talkies with Makrand Anaspure, Siddharth Jadhav and Shivaji Satam. That is other part of star cast. But the thing is that in May people not only in Maharashtra but also in world were busy in watching IPL, the main event in cricket history. IPL rocks India, and the cricket fan all over the world. IPL also effects on box office in India with loss of Rs.100 crores to Bollywood.

“De Dhakka” runs between the seasons of IPL, where big films like “Sarkar Raj” released after the end of IPL season. Producers don’t want to bear loss, which will occur due to season, so they decided to release after IPL. “De Dhakka” is inspired from Hollywood movies “Little Miss Sunshine”. A story of village family, how they are with each other in emotional way, but in real life they are always fighting with each other. We can’t say that it’s like typical Marathi movies, but no an original also. It’s like pop corn movie, any age of person or any generation can enjoy this movie. Movie sends audience out of theatre with a pleasurable smile while watching the movie. That is the reason movie gives a real “Dhakka” to the box office, in competition of other hindi and marathi movies. This is really joyful news to Marathi people that they are back now. So I must say that every Maharashtrian must saw the movie.

A movie like “Sanai Chaughade” makes you feel happy while you coming outside theatre after complete show, it doesn’t mean that it’s a popcorn movie. It’s a movie which asks you some questions, which related to our society and our generation and our point of view to about some incidents which faced by women in our society.

It’s a story of a girl “Sayee” and her unique marriage; she belongs to small town Belgan. She lost her father at very young age. After death of his mother which is the first scene of movie, she starts living with her cousin Urmila and her husband Shrikant in Pune. Urmila and Shrikan are childless couple. Urmila promise to Sayee’s mother that she will make all arrangements of Sayee’s marriage, after her death. And they both are happy to assume Sayye’s full responsibility as her guardians and get her married in traditional manner. So they started their search for right match for Sayee. During this search Shrikant offered to for an assignment of 3 years in U.S. This was a bit of background of story, after all on behalf on name of movie “Sanai Chaughade” and punchline “He Lagna tar Honarach” audience are waiting for the main event i.e. marriage of “Sayee”.

So they start searching for a right match. In Marathi culture there is tradition of ‘Kande Pohe’. Kande Pohe is a break fast food, but when a boy comes to girl’s house for looking girl and to meet her family then girl came in saree in front of boy with this Kande Pohe. So many of us have a question why we eat Kande Pohe at this time, well it’s a tradition and we also don’t know the answer. She saw many types of boys, these are some comic scenes where every one in family will like to watch these scene. She doesn’t like anyone and then she goes to Kande Pohe, where nothing is impossible. Kande Pohe – a new matrimonial search, equipped with the latest technology and marketing techniques. In Kande Pohe she found Aaditya. Aaditya has love at first sight with Sayee, but Sayee has some past. Where Sayee decided to told all about her past to person who will going to marry with her.

Sayee told Aditya that she is a mother of child, from her boyfriend Aniket and she is looking for a person who will accept her with her child. Here is main climax goes and gives question to all generation in society. Sayee’s boyfriend also ready to accept her child but he died in and accident. But Sayee doesn’t want to make abortion. Well story says Sayee doesn’t make any wrong but the point of view of people is wrong. Between all this Kande Pohe found a trouble because of compny’s tagline “Nothing is Impossible”. So they take a risk of Sayee’s marriage.

Rajiv Patil have been done great job, we accept that movie will run on box office. Movie attracts by young generation, but this movie has to see by parents also who are looking for their daughters or sons right match. Where in certain scene audience predict the scene that what will happen after this scene. But the dialogues which are written by Sanjay Pawar impressed people to watch movie and don’t talk between movie. Sai Tamhanakar who plays role of “Sayee Paranjape” also done very impressive, where it’s first movie of Sai. Shreyas Talpade who is producer of movie have been done special appearance in movie. Music composed by Avadhoot Gupte and weel music is rocking in marathi campus the song “Kande Pohe”. Well I must say that everyone see movie not only with friends but also with you family.

When Actor became Producer

Posted by: niteshmalap on: August 13, 2008

In Marathi Theatre Industry, producers produce a play and then he completes their some number of shows and after that he closed down that play. Producer doesn’t keep continuity of their plays whether the play is nice. Producer doesn’t get production cost from their shows, so they decided to stop and don’t want bear more loss. Some producers like Bhadrakali Productions keep arranging shows, whether a number of shows goes to 4000 (Vastraharan). May be they wants to keep the legacy of that play.

In Marathi Theatre comedy plays have their own audience. Normally audience want entertainers, a play which will make them laugh and make happy for buying a ticket. So for earning profit purpose, producer prefer to a play which will make laughter. But thereafter also some plays get down in the industry. That may be due to lack of management their shows or lack of proper advertisement and publicity.

Prashant Damle, a well known artist across the world is now decided to become a producer of his new play “Olakha Na Palakh”. This play is produced by Prashant Damle Fan Foundation and Suyog. Suyog is famous production house in Marathi Theatre industry, but Prashant Damale Fan Foundation are making this first time. Prashant said that earning profit is not only aim, that fund will be used for foundation’s social activities. But here is some interesting, may be Prashant want to make something different. In recent news he announced an online ticket booking service for his new play. A user can book ticket online for “Olakh Na Palakh” on www.prashantdamle.com. This service will start from 13th August, 2008. He has been booked his shows in theatres from 15th Aug. to 31st Aug. 2008. If you look at schedule of this play, you will see that the play is going in all areas which will be comfortable for Marathi Theatre, just like Gadakari in Thane, Dinanath in Vileparle, Atre in Kalyan and may others which are very suitable to catch audience. We have seen Prashant Damle in many roles in Theatre and in Films also, but now we are going to see him in role of Producer. As actor he has been performed excellent, there are world records also, but now its time for producer to make some record.

“Olakha Na Palakh”, based on psychological illness called “Amnesia”, in which a human lost some part of his memory. Play is written by Suresh Jayram. It is fully loaded with comedy. Play has been directed by Mangesh Kadam. Before this Prashant worked with Mangesh in a play “Eka Lagnachi Gosht”, which is still continue in theatres. So I hope in this play we will see a nice chemistry between Mangesh and Prashant. Prashant have been made advertising and publicity of his play, and he is ready to race now.

Movie Review : Mumbai Meri Jaan By Taran Adarsh

Posted by: niteshmalap on: August 27, 2008

The serial bombing of suburban trains in Mumbai in 2006 is a nightmarish incident the nation would never forget. And Mumbaikars still get gooseflesh recalling the ghastly incident. MUMBAI MERI JAAN recreates the incident on celluloid, but is not about terrorism per se. It talks about the aftermath of this tragedy and how the lives of five people, not remotely connected or associated with one another, gets affected in the process.

MUMBAI MERI JAAN is more of an emotional journey. Five varied stories unveil in those 2 hours [a concept that's fast catching up with Bollywood] and each makes a statement.

Nishikant Kamat’s first Hindi venture is one of those films that don’t deviate from the core issue. It may not be foolproof in terms of writing, but the execution is so compelling that one overlooks those minor blemishes in the narrative.

MUMBAI MERI JAAN is more of a tribute to the never-dying spirit of this dynamic city called Mumbai. A film that every citizen should watch!

On July 11, 2006, the local train service, known as Mumbai’s lifeline, was struck by a series of bomb blasts. MUMBAI MERI JAAN explores the impact of this devastating incident on the lives of people of Mumbai.

From a brilliant broadcast journalist to a patriotic corporate man; from a retiring policeman at the twilight of his life to a rookie cop at the dawn of his career; from an angry and xenophobic unemployed young man to a coffee-vendor struggling to survive and belong: MUMBAI MERI JAAN follows the lives of people from all strata of Mumbai’s bustling society as they tackle the aftermath of a fatal incident that brings out the best and sometimes the worst in them.

MUMBAI MERI JAAN looks at the common tragedy, but diversifies into five different stories at the very start itself. Each of those stories and the characters depicted in those stories are relatable. If you haven’t witnessed these people, there’s a possibility that you may’ve heard or read about them.

Amongst the five stories, the ones that leave a stronger impression are Paresh Rawal-Vijay Maurya, Irrfan Khan and Kay Kay Menon. Soha’s story may not appeal as much since it tends to go overboard, while Madhavan’s story has its moments, but is not as impactful.

Nishikant Kamat has executed the sensitive subject with gloves, handling each of those five stories with care. A number of emotional moments in the narrative move you and at times, depress no end. Credit must also be reserved for its writer as also the art director, who has recreated the ghastly incident so realistically.

Every performance in the film is applaud-worthy. Paresh steals the show. This performance should easily make it into the Top 5 performances of the year. Irrfan is marvellous. Watch him hate the fragrance of the perfume soon after he has been insulted at the mall. It’s superb! Kay Kay is fantastic. The actor makes his part appear so real. Soha is a surprise. Watch her emotional breakdown at the morgue and you know that she has gradually evolved into a terrific actor. Madhavan is equally competent, conveying so much even when silent. Vijay Maurya is superb. His scenes with Paresh are incredible.

On the whole, MUMBAI MERI JAAN is a well-intentioned film that should win praise for its execution and performances. It’s more for the discerning viewer, those who swear by serious cinema.

Makadachya Hati Champagne : Theatre Review By Nitesh Malap

Posted by: niteshmalap on: November 26, 2008

We have seen many stories in our Marathi Natak industries which comments on manipulative overtures of the political mind also we have seen plays which indicate one actress and three actors and then they fight with each other for her. But “Makadachya Hati Champagne” gives you a different kind of enjoyment which mixtures both categories of above plays.

This is a two act play written by Dr. Vivek Bele and Directed by Girish Joshi. Play went live in theatres before 2-3 years back, it has been won 20 awards till yet and still they have house-full boards on their ticket window. This Marathi play indicates a quite interesting story of three roommates and a girl who came into their life.

First one is “Chaku” (Knife), because of his aggressive mind and uncouthness; second one is “Pustak” (Book), he is a professor and mostly behaving like story of book, last one is “Makad” (Monkey), a T.V. Journalist and always ready to find news. So these are three roommates, Chaku fall in love with one lady and he decides to introduce her with his roommates. Lady who doesn’t care about her past she has, and give up with changes in mind which suits her and move on with life joyfully. She decides her name herself to “Pencil”, because we can erase it when we write with pencil. So Chaku bring her home to meet Pustak and Makad, while he also brings champagne for celebration of his love. But when Lady enters in house it disturb the celebration and champagne remain close. All three like her and want to marry with Pencil, here story begins. Question is that to whom lady will marry? Here ends first half.

In the Second half excitement takes you higher, where lady marry with someone of them and other one still cant forgetting her. The two men vie for the lady’s favors just as the opposing candidates vie for public support. The media and Makad meanwhile enjoy the show as long as the bottle of champagne is not opened. Because champagne means celebration and celebration means everybody is happy which clearly does not agree with their psyche. So Lady thinks that if she marries with other one then she might be happy. And the guy also feels the same.

Its sounds like normal filmy story but writer and director connects this story with some political games, which also indicates manipulation of relationship after marriage. Who gets the lady, who gets the chair? Whom does the lady favor, whom does the public uphold? This Marathi play indicates a comedy category with good quality of jokes. It’s cool and interesting Marathi Drama, which should be watch by everyone. Dr. Bele has different style of writing, and that style makes enjoy everyone in audience. In a thoroughly enjoyable laughter ridden two hours of moves and countermoves, Director Girish Joshi brings out the stark insensitivity and selfishness of the human mind in no uncertain terms.

On the Whole, Makadachya Hati Champagne is fully paisa wasool play in both act means before and after interval also, you don’t get bored when you are in theatre.

Ek Daav Dhobi Pachhad – Movie Review

Posted by: niteshmalap on: January 9, 2009

Ek Daav Dhobi Pachhad is the tale of Dadasaheb Dange who, as his name suggests, is the dada of his village. He is known for his illegal activities and doesn’t allow anything good to happen in the village. One chance meeting with Hema, his long-lost love and Dadasaheb does a self-introspection and is ready to go through a transformation to win her back. He hires a teacher to improvise on his diction and appoints an ‘international’ dress designer in order to look presentable as Hema criticises him for his language and looks. Meanwhile, he learns that his only daughter Sulakshana is pregnant and in love with his enemy, the opposition leader’s son who has just-returned from the US. Another girl, Sayali, claims that she is Dadasaheb’s daughter and falls in love with his accountant who, in turn, cheats Dadasaheb of his money. Amidst a lot of chaos and fun moments, Dadasaheb is happy to know that Sulakshana lied to him about her pregnancy so that she can visit US.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:
It is after four decades of entertaining the audience with his performances that Ashok Saraf is venturing into film production. Unfortunately, the film is a take-off on the Mithun Chakraborty film Don Muthuswami, which in turn was a complete rip-off of the Sylvester Stallone starrer, the English comedy Oscar. But the adaptation to Marathi nativity has been done excellently with the two heroes Prasad Oak and Subodh Bhave using the Nagpur and Kolhapur diction effectively and raising a few laughs. Madhura Velankar has nothing to do but look beautiful. Ashok Saraf is the soul of the film, first as the dada and then as a silent lover and the frustrated father as well as the new and improved Dadasaheb Dange. Thankfully, he has not restored to his old style of overacting. In this film he has a restrained performance yet bringing in the laughter at the required places. This is Zee Talkies’ first Marathi film.

RATING:
One star for Ashok Saraf’s restrained performance and one star each for Prasad Oak and Subodh Bhave’s acting.

Cast and Crew

Producer: Ashok Saraf
Director: Satish Rajwade
Story and screenplay:Girish Joshi
Stars: Ashok Saraf, Prasad Oak, Pushkar Shrotri, Subodh Bhave, Madhura Velankar, Mukta Barve, Sanjay Mone, Vinay Yedekar, Kishori Shahane-Vij and others

What is Special Thing About your Movie?

One special thing of my film is all above are of same name SANJAY.
Apart from that the film revolves around the social subject of ‘Infertility’.The film is focusing on a subject from the point of view of a social aspect of a family, a couple going through a problem of infertility. Due to global warming day by day the problem/ factors of infertility of the human beings is increasing.

Recently in Pune (Maharashtra State, India) a world wide conference was held at “RUBY HALL CLINIC” to discuss and study the matter of infertility. They have come to a conclusion on the basis of their study and survey that more than 15% of the population is suffering from infertility worldwide.and in most of cases are in men and is about 40%.

What is the reason behind producing this film ?

I also want to say that the film not only shows how to overcome the problem but also leaves a very good message to survive. Now- a -days, we are very much aware of that due to infertility many couples are taking divorce and it is very sad to say that many of them attempt suicides and few attempt murder. Here after due to global warning the sperm count and ovum will be affected. On the contrary many of the couples opt for superstition and follow them in spite of being educated and waste their time and money over it in hope to have some result. In my film we have shown that by totally believing ‘Medical Science’ one can be able to solve the problem. My special interest is to focus on the lifestyle of affected couple of infertility.

This film must be seen by every human being and should reach people of every corner of the world .The film is selected in

“Geli 21 Varsha”, A Rocking Play in Marathi

Posted by: niteshmalap on: January 14, 2010

“Thespo” is an opportunity created by Theatre Group Bombay in 1999 for youngsters who are under age of 25. The conditions are not only age but they want a play which must be at least 1 hour log. There are many competitions like this but this is only for under age of 25, which your means your whole team must be under age of 25 except writer and producer. So watching “Thespo” always interesting, but this year’s winner rocks you to watch them again and again, yes they are Natak Company from Pune. Natak Company Pune presents “Geli 21 Varsha” (Last 21 years); Writer Dharmakirti Sumant, Director Alok Rajwade and team of Natak Company. They won title of Outstanding New Writing, Outstanding Director and Outstanding Play in “Thespo” competition; also they got Standing Ovation at Prithvi Theatre on 13th Jan. 2009 which I attend.

The play start with a story of a young guy who is just completed his 21 years named “Tarun”. Story is combined with many things which are related to his life, your life and my life too. Like Life, Education, Money, Job, Relationship, Insecurities, Drugs, Freedom, Facebook, Sex, Love, Confusion, Solution, Reality Shows, Mom & Dad, Religion, etc. He passed out 10th with high marks and then his family tells him to do something useful for future. Always he was pressurized by someone to do something. He got frustration about this entire questions and he thinks that his friend Raghu will solve this. Tarun tells Raghu his problem and then Raghu tells him what purpose of our life is? Why human psychology is so complicated? How you defend situations?

I don’t want to tell you more about the story or plot of this play because I think you must have to go and watch the play. The story or the script is not only the reason to watch this play there are many things or many causes to watch this play, like performance, set of this play, music, direction style, etc.

Performance of all team members of Natak Company are no doubtfuls. Siddharth  Menon performs very nicely while he shows some different things in his other plays. He really worked hard on this and he shown it. Another guy in this play who played lead role of “Tarun” his name is Amey Wagh. His performance is fantastic, mind blowing, outstanding. Apart from these actors I must say you guys see the director of this play, Alok Rajwade a very young boy and really he is outstanding director. Over all whole Natak Company is rocking, I must say whenever the show is there in your city whether it is Mumbai or Pune, please don’t miss it. The play will not waste your money and time both, you will be happy for what you pay for this play. For Natak Company “All the Best and Keep it up!!!”

Wish you a very Happy Sankrant!!!

“Shikshanachya Ayacha Gho” – Movie Review By Nitesh Malap

Posted by: niteshmalap on: January 19, 2010

From last two weeks we were watching the tailor of this movie, advertising in all media. Also this movie gets a wide publicity because of the name of this movie. This is for non Marathi people, In Marathi “Ayacha Gho” means mother’s husband. And “Shikshan” means education. Movie gets extra publicity from media because according to them the movie title is bad and it has to change. But our director Mahesh Manjarekar doesn’t changed his mind and he released movie on 15th Jan.

“Shikshanachya Ayacha Gho” – Movie Review

“Shikshanachya Ayacha Gho” – Movie Review

This movie is frustration on the today’s education system by a common man. Rane (Bharat Jadhav) who is leaving with his two kids in Mumbai’s chawl. He is only one for his kids. His wife dead when his son was in 5th standard. He has one son and one daughter. His daughter good in his study, but his son is very weak in his study, as usual he is interested in cricket, and he is very strong in cricket subject. But his father Rane thinks playing cricket is not career option for middle class people.  So he is always opposite to his son for playing cricket. His son also tried to study but due to lack of interest he is not able to concentrate more on study. But his Father’s, Rane’s expectations are always high from his son.

Ranes’ economic condition is always bad. Rane do over time in office, he do home business to earn some more money, because his salary is not enough for all them. Like he has to pay School Fees, Tuition Fees, Son’s Cricket Expenses and other home related expenses. So he borrows money from Ibrahim Bhai (Sidhharth Jadhav) on high interest rate.

Now, Rane’s get in problem because of lack of money and he pressurized his son to study hard so he will get scholarship in school. But this doesn’t work and in one accident his son goes to coma. Again the problem rise of money hospitality and all. His neighbors help him out of this problem every time. But Rane do something more than that.

Rane takes challenge to change education system. He goes to media; point out them how our education system is wrong and why it needs to be change. He wrote a letter to Education Minister but he reply him as he is mad person. So he goes to CM and asks him some questions which are now added in education of children. Like “how much 17 * 7”, some historical questions like “who is father of King Babar?” and scientific question, etc. No one is able to answer his questions. So CM decide that he will try to change this system.

Movie is not only about education system but it come with a message to parents that don’t pressurized your students and let them decide what they want to be. Either they want to be Cricketer, Photographer, Actor, anything. Don’t decide by your side that your child will become Engineer or a Doctor. Movie shows a problem face by a very common man because of his sons study. And then he realized that this is not my son’s problem there is something wrong in this education system.

While talking about performances Bharat Jadhav performed some kind of different role in this movie. Like we saw him in plays and other Marathi movies, he always does usually comic roles. But here you will see him a in very different type of variety. Role of both kids, as they worked before in “De Dhakka”. So they again shown their brother sister chemistry and nice tuning in this movie. Role of Siddharth Jadhav is not come up very high this time as he done in “Me Shivaji Raje…” . Kranti Redkar also present his character in very different manner this time. Over all actors performed very different kind of role as they performed yet.

Let’s talk about some technical side of the movie. No songs are pointing out from this movie. Cinematography of this movie is good but not best. Technically it doesn’t come up. But it’s come up with story, direction and dialogues. After all this discussion I must say this movie must see by “Every parent, who this his child is not good in study, he will definitely gets the solution.
